AT&T service; just charge battery, no sim card needed, just provide ESN and Serial Number with service carrier to activate or pay an outside vendor for the unlock code to use on any carrier
Outside is metallic plastic, looks like shiny chrome, not metal

I cannot locate the 8860 booklet, but the included 8260 booklet has the same phone functions but you can download or I will email the correct manual in PDF format upon purchase.
I bought this kit new in 1990, and just replaced entire chrome case with the spare case I saved.
The screen protection film just pulls off. (looks wrinkled in photo until the film is removed, screen is clear)
Current smartphones are great, but won't always fit in your pocket, especially slacks or suit pocket
This vintage phone is a head-turner,why look like everyone else while making a call or text messaging
